What I liked
Honestly, ZS is a powerhouse for anyone looking to build a serious brand in consulting. The offices in Pune and Gurgaon are top-notch—definitely better than most places I’ve worked at. They really take care of the logistics; the door-to-door cab service is a total lifesaver, especially when we’re finishing up late and need to get home safe. From a career growth standpoint, the exposure to global pharma and life sciences is just incredible. You’re working on billion-dollar problems right from day one. Plus, the meritocracy is real here. If you deliver, the bonuses are chunky and usually way better than what my peers at other big firms are seeing. It’s a place where your hard work actually shows up in your bank account, which is rare these days. I also appreciate how we have a clear path for progression; you always know what you need to do to get to the next level. The people are smart, and being around high achievers keeps you on your toes, which I kinda enjoy.
Areas for improvement
Tbh, the time zones can be a real killer sometimes. Since we’re mostly supporting North America and Europe, those late evening calls are just part of the job description. It’s not uncommon to be on Zoom at 10 PM, which makes it tough to have a normal social life during the week. The Up or Out culture is definitely intense. While it drives high performance, it also creates this underlying stress about job security during appraisal cycles. If you aren't in the top bracket, it feels a bit shaky. During the project sprints, the 12-14 hour days are real, and I've seen some of my junior team members hit a wall with burnout. I try to manage it for them, but when the client deadline is looming, there's only so much you can do. It’s a high-pressure environment for sure. Also, the expectations keep rising every year, so you can never really coast even after you've been here a while. It’s a trade-off for the high pay, I guess, but it’s still heavy.
