Senior Software Engineer Review

What I liked

Honestly, the best part about working at Stantec is the exposure you get. You aren't just working on some local app; you’re dealing with massive international infrastructure projects that look great on a resume. It’s way better than the local Indian consultancies where they work you to death for no reason. The work-life balance here is actually respected, and the hybrid policy isn’t just for show. Plus, the door-to-door cab service for those of us in Pune or Bangalore is actually reliable and safe, which is a huge relief when you're finishing late. We get to use high-end design standards that you just dont see in many other places. It’s a solid place if you want to learn how global engineering works properly without the typical local burnout.

Areas for improvement

The mid-shift is a total killer for your social life tbh. Working from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM means I never see my family for dinner and my friends are already done with their day when I'm still stuck in meetings with North America. Also, the money is kind of a joke compared to what other tech firms in India are offering right now. They say 'global budget constraints' every year during appraisals, but that doesnt help with inflation here. Progression is super slow too. If you want to be a lead or make big decisions, you basically have to be sitting in an office in Canada or the US. It feels like we just execute what they decide over there, which is pretty frustrating after 4 years of experience.

Data Scientist Review

What I liked

Honestly, I love how the hybrid policy is actually respected here. Being able to work on massive infrastructure projects for North America is pretty cool from a data science perspective because the datasets are huge and complex. Also, the 5-day work week is a lifesaver compared to other engineering firms in India. The door-to-door transport services for late shifts is also a huge plus, makes life so much easier.

Areas for improvement

Tbh, the time zone overlap is the biggest headache. We end up staying late quite often to sync with the US teams which kinda drains you after a while even with the flexibility. Also, don't expect crazy IT-style hikes here; the appraisals are kinda conservative, usually just hitting single digits. The career ladder moves a bit slow compared to a startup, but I guess thats the trade-off for stability.

Intern Review

What I liked

Honestly, the best part is the global projects. I'm working on water infra stuff for Canada and the US which is way cooler than what my friends in local firms are doing. The culture is super chill too - its a 5 day week and no one expects you to sit late just to look busy. Manager actually respects your personal time which is rare in India.

Areas for improvement

The mid-shift is kinda tough tbh. I'm often working 1pm to 10pm to match North American hours, so my social life has taken a bit of a hit. Also, the Pune traffic is a nightmare even with the company cab. The salary hikes are also a bit low compared to what tech companies offer, its mostly single digits because of global budgets.
